Philadelphia Museum of Art Concept T-Shirt
The Challenge
This concept project was created because I was looking for more appealing t-shirts design to share with my family since I just started working at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 2017.
At the time, most of the designs were related to the special events and showcases. I felt that there was a lack of brand focused t-shirts. Additionally, I wanted to incorporate a design idea that played with augmented reality (AR) technology for marketing purposes.
Philadelphia Museum of Art Concept T-Shirt

The Solution
Since the concept design is brand focused, I wanted the Main Building of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to be on the front of the shirt. It is such as an iconic landmark in Philadelphia that it makes a great statement piece.
You can check out a demonstration of the augmented reality video below in the next section.
Fun Facts
- Originally, I figured the AR t-shirt would be an interesting marketing piece since the AR aspect can be scanned anywhere in the world and t-shirts tend to be worn for years after the initial purchase/event.
- As a follow up to the above, the AR platform provided data regarding location and frequency of scans along with how many users interacted with the content on display.
- In the original concept design, I realized I placed the design too low on the shirt but it would have been adjusted for actual production.
- The green circle in the image is part of the requirements for the augmented reality app I used at the time, Zappar. I created and executed this concept in 2017, prior to the explosion of non-marker based AR software.
- In the video, I wanted to highlight interesting pieces of art that are a part of the permanent collection. As of September 2019, the gallery locations are out of date due to the North Entrance opening up but the art is still on display.
- The audio in the video is from an old news piece hosted on the Philadelphia Museum of Art YouTube Channel which I felt still holds up to this day.

Unfortunately, you cannot buy this design. It was created as a concept which never went further than a single test print.
